Docksiders Level 8’s Take 2^nd at State Championships

 

 

     Docksiders Gymnastics’ Level 8 team competed in their State Championships on April 9^th.  The competition was held at the PG Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland.  The Team took 2^nd place in the 5 man team competition and many of the girls took top honors in the individual events.

 

     In the 12 year old age group Madeline Hulsey took 2^nd on Uneven Bars with a score of 9.35, 3^rd on Balance Beam with a 9.05, and 2^nd All Around with a total score of 36.725.  Her teammate Candace Hanley took 3^rd place on Floor Exercise, with her sneaky routine to the Pink Panther tune, scoring 9.25.

 

     Monica Durham won the title of State Vault Champion in the 13 year old age group with a score of 9.35.  She also placed 3^rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.275 and 3^rd All Around with a 36.775.  Also in the 13 year old age group Chelcie Rosborough danced her way to a  2^nd  place finish on Floor Exercise with a 9.30.

 

     In the 15 year old age group Rebecca Jones walked away with two State Championships, on Uneven Bars with a 9.375 and on Floor Exercise with a 9.45.  Julie Bickel captured the title of Balance Beam Champion with a solid performance that earned her a 9.225.  Shayna Jackson finished in 3^rd place on both Vault, with a 9.50, and Floor Exercise with a 9.325.

 

     In the 16 year old age group Caitlin Fleming was crowned the State Balance Beam Champion with the score of 9.45 for a near perfect performance and Michelle Patricelli took 2^nd place on Vault with the high score of 9.525.

 

     Completing the team effort were Docksiders gymnasts Caroline Barber, Amanda Castle, Meghan Rotondo, and Miranda Telmanik.  Six Docksiders qualified to the Level 8 Regional Championships which are to be held in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania on May 6^th and 7^th.  The Regional qualifiers are Monica Durham, Candace Hanley, Madeline Hulsey, Rebecca Jones, Michelle Patricelli, and Chelcie Rosborough.
