Docksiders Level 10’s Win Sweet Heart

The Docksiders Level 10 Team took home a Sweet Victory by winning the Sweet Heart Invitational for the 2nd year in a row.  The Sweet Heart competition was held in Raleigh, North Carolina over Presidents Day Weekend.  Winning the all around title with a career high score of 37.65 was Brianna Guy, who is competing as a level 10 gymnast at just 13 years old.  The Level 8 and 9 teams also competed in the meet, with the Level 9 Team placing 3rd in the team competition in their division.

 

In the individual events Brianna took 1st place on 3 of 4 events.  She won Vault with a score of 9.675, Uneven Bars with a score of 9.25, and Floor Exercise with a score of 9.575.  A fall on Balance Beam bumped her to 3rd place on that event with a 9.125 but was still good enough to secure the all around win.  Alexis Gross took the title of Balance Beam Champion with a 9.45, making Docksiders Gymnasts Champions of all the individual events.  Docksiders team member Krystal Welsh came in 2nd place in the All-Around with a score of 37.125, and also earned a 2nd place finish on both Vault, with a 9.55, and Uneven Bars with a 9.20.  She also placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.35, performing her rocking floor routine to an old Grand Funk Railroad tune.  Stephanie Ouellette, who only competed on Uneven Bars due to coming back from a foot injury, took 3rd place on that event with an 8.95.  Lilly Siems Placed 3rd on Vault for Docksiders with a 9.225 and Melanie Brother took a 3rd place finish on floor Exercise with a 9.025.  Also contributing to the team victory were Courtney Shelsby, Heather Atwood, and Betsy Zander.

 

In the Level 9 individual competition Jenna White finished 3rd All Around with a score of 35.425 and also took 2nd on both Uneven Bars, with an 8.75, and Floor Exercise with a 9.10.  First year Level 9’s Monica Durham and Chelcie Rosborough also turned in strong performances with Monica taking 2nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.0 and Chelcie taking 2nd on Vault with a 9.05.  Veteran competitor Kayla Della took 3rd place on Floor Exercise with a 9.075.  Completing the team was Amanda Castle who only competed on one event due to an arm injury that she is recovering from.

 

In the Level 8 competition Docksiders had 3 individual event winners.  Caite Fleming and Nicolette Joyce both placed 1st on Floor Exercise, Caite in the 17+ age group with a score of 9.25 and Nicolette in the 12-14 age group with a 9.075.  Michelle Patricelli took 1st place on Vault with a 9.45 for her dynamic performance.  Alexandra Zois captured a 3rd place finish on Uneven Bars with an 8.05 in her first competition as a Level 8.  Caite Fleming also took 2nd place on Balance beam with an 8.85.
