Heather Atwood Wins the All-Around and Helps the Docksiders Level 10 Team Win Capital Cup!

 

    On Friday, February 29th, Docksiders Level 10 Gymnasts competed at the 31st Annual Nations Capital Cup Invitational in Landover and put together an awesome performance. Heather Atwood, the youngest Level 10 team member at just 14 years old, captured the All Around title with the high score of 36.65. This was Heather’s second All-Around Win of the season. The Level 10 Team walked away with the Team Victory, as well as loads of individual honors.

    The All-Around Champion, Heather Atwood, also took home several other awards for her fantastic performance. She captured 2nd place on Vault with a 9.25, Uneven Bars with a 9.30, and Balance Beam with a 9.20 in addition to 1st place in the All-Around for the Children’s Age Group. Also in this age group was Brianna Guy, who won Uneven Bars with an incredible bar routine that earned her a 9.425. Brianna was unable to compete All-Around due to an injury she is recovering from.

    In the Junior Age Group Rachel Fincham was crowned Uneven Bar Champion with a spectacular bar routine that earned her a score of 9.575. She also received 2nd place on Vault with a 9.40. Her teammate Alexis Gross finished in 2nd place on Uneven Bars with a 9.30, and Betsy Zander showed off her great poise by finishing in 3rd place on Balance Beam with a 9.10.

    Toi Garcia took 3rd place in the All-Around for the Senior Age Group with a 36.575. She also vaulted her way to another Champion finish on Vault with a 9.50, and took home 3rd place for Balance Beam with an 8.90.

    Also contributing to the Level 10 team win were Melanie Brother and Krystal Welsh.

    In the Level 9 Senior age group Michelle Patricelli took 1st place on Vault with a 9.0 and 3rd place on Floor exercise with an 8.80. In the Junior age group Chelcie Rosborough placed 3rd on Vault with an 8.875, and Monica Durham took 3rd place on Uneven Bars with an 8.95.
