Docksiders Help Dominique Promote the Olympic Trials
Coming to Philadelphia in June!
On Tuesday March
11th several Docksiders Gymnasts got up at 3:30 in the
morning to be at the gym by 5am. The WBAL TV crews were
there along with Olympian Dominique Dawes to film some
live segments for channel 11. The Docksiders Gymnasts
were there to help Dominique promote the
2008
Olympic Trials, which will be held in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in June. While the TV crews were rolling,
our gymnasts were in the background flipping, swinging,
and posing. The live shots took only about 2 minutes
each, and there were 3 or 4 taken throughout the 2-hour
period. WBAL Newsperson Sandra Shaw was on hand
interviewing Dominique and watching in amazement as our
girls performed. In between takes the girls were able to
chat one on one with Dominique, who answered questions,
offered advice, and signed autographs. Dominique said
that one of her proudest moments was not Olympic Glory,
but rather the day she signed with Stanford University
for a full athletic scholarship. Unfortunately, she gave
up her scholarship before she began at Stanford in order
to train for the 2000 Olympics Games, but notes that
being able to participate in College Gymnastics is well
worth the sacrifice and sweat. This was good news to
some of our top gymnasts, all of who have their sights
set on a scholarship in the next few years. To find out
