Docksiders Dominates at the
Tampa Bay Turners Invitational!
Docksiders Gymnastics Level 9’s and 10’s traveled to Tampa, Florida for the TBT Invitational held on March 14th -16th. The gymnasts competed in 3 different rounds and dominated the competition with some very high scores. At the conclusion of the 3-day Competition Docksiders walked away with 4 All-Around Champions, 1st and 2nd Place Team Victories and loads of individual awards!
The Team Title for the level 10’s
was won by gymnasts Heather Atwood, Melanie Brother, Alexis Gross,
Stephanie Ouellette, and Krystal Welsh. Alexis Gross won the Junior
All-Around title
with a 36.50. She also placed 2nd on
Balance Beam with a 9.15 and 3rd on Floor Exercise with a
9.35. Heather Atwood, also competing in the Junior age group, took home
two Champion titles. She won Balance Beam with her personal best score
of 9.60, and also won Floor Exercise with a 9.525, which was her highest
Floor score to date. On Vault Heather placed 2nd with a
9.375. In the Senior age group, Stephanie Ouellette won the All-Around
with a 36.80 and also earned Champion status on Floor Exercise with a
9.375. She placed 2nd on Balance Beam with a 9.175 and 3rd
place on both Vault, with a 9.15, and Uneven Bars with a 9.10.
Graduating Senior Melanie Brother took home a 3rd place
finish on Floor Exercise with a 9.275.
The 2nd place team of Level 10’s, who competed in a different session, consisted of gymnasts Rachel Fincham, Toi Garcia, Brianna Guy, and Chelsea Perna. In the Junior A age group Brianna Guy won 1st place on both Vault, with a 9.65, and Floor Exercise with a 9.65. She also took 3rd on Uneven Bars with a 9.175 and 2nd All-Around with the high score of 37.90. In the Junior B age group Rachel Fincham had a stand out performance winning the All-Around with a 37.50 and placing 1st on Uneven Bars with a 9.50 and also first on Floor Exercise with a 9.425. Toi Garcia won the All-Around in the Senior A age group with a 37.125 and continued her winning streak on both Vault and Uneven Bars with scores of 9.675 and 9.275. She also placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.25.
In the Level 9 division Chelcie Rosborough had a solid performance on Beam and won with a 9.025. Her Docksider teammate Amanda Castle took 2nd place on Floor Exercise with a 9.225, while Alyson Gerken took 3rd Place on Vault with an 8.95. Monica Durham earned an 8.95 on Uneven Bars to put her in 3rd place, and Michelle Patricelli took 3rd place as well on Vault in the Senior age group.
