Docksiders Level 10’s Win the
Malibu Coast Challenge!
The Docksiders Level 9 and 10 Teams traveled to Malibu, California to compete against some of the top gymnastics teams on the West Coast at the Malibu Coast Challenge. The Level 10 Team walked away with the top score for the team competition and the Level 9 Team took 2nd in their division. Krystal Welsh was the top performer for the Level 10’s scoring a 37.40 to win the All-Around. At Level 9 Docksider Chelcie Rosborough won her age group with a 35.925 and Noelle DeCesare won her age group with a 35.35. There were many individual titles and awards that were brought home to Maryland at the conclusion of the weekend.
In addition to her All-Around victory Krystal also earned Champion status on Uneven Bars with a 9.45 and took 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.45. In the same age group of 16 year olds, Alexis Gross placed 2nd All-Around with a 36.70 and took 2nd on two events, Uneven Bars with a 9.225 and Floor Exercise with a 9.50. Stephanie Ouellette placed 3rd on Balance Beam with a 9.35 and Chelsea Perna placed 3rd on Vault with a 9.425. In the 17 year old age group Toi Garcia placed 1st on both Vault with a 9.70 and Floor Exercise with a 9.575. Her combined total placed her 3rd in the All-Around. Rachel Fincham took 1st on uneven Bars with a 9.375 and 2nd on Floor Exercise with a 9.45. In the 15 year old age group Brianna Guy placed 1st on Vault with a 9.65 and also 1st on Balance Beam with a 9.425. Also contributing to the team win were Heather Atwood, Courtney Shelsby, Jenna White, and Betsy Zander.
At Level 9 in the 16 year old age group Chelcie Rosborough added a 2nd place on Balance Beam, with a 9.225, to her All-Around win. Amanda Castle placed 1st on floor Exercise with a 9.225 and 2nd on both Vault, with a 9.45, and in the All-Around with a 35.775. Their Docksiders teammate Monica Durham, also in the 16 year old age group, took the Champion title on Vault with a 9.50. Noelle DeCesare, who is the youngest Level 9 on the Docksiders Team at just 10 years old, added two 1st place event titles to go with her All-Around title. She placed 1st on Uneven Bars with an 8.375 and 1st on Balance Beam with a 9.225. She also took 2nd on Vault with a 9.0 and 2nd on Floor Exercise with an 8.75. Assisting in Docksiders’ 2nd place finish in the team competition were Emily Bowen, Megan Rotondo, and Alex Zois.
The next stop for Docksiders Level 9 & 10 Teams is the Maryland State Championships, which will be held at the PG Sports and Learning Center on Sunday March 28th.
