Docksiders’ Nina Agafonovas

wins the Spring Fling!

Several Docksiders teams competed in the Spring Fling competition on March 21, 2009.  Level 5 Nina Agafonovas placed 1st All-Around with the score of 36.275.  The Level 5 team placed 3rd in the Team competition and the Level 8 Team took 2nd.  There were several individual awards won as well.

In addition to her All-Around win in the 10 year old age group, Nina took 2nd place on Balance Beam with a 9.35.  Her twin sister Angie placed 2nd on Uneven Bars with a high score of 9.70 and 3rd in the All-Around with a 36.125.  Rachel Ward placed 2nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.20.  In the 8 year old age group Meghan McKenna was the top scorer from Docksiders with her 2nd place finish in the All-Around scoring a 36.15.  She also placed 3rd on Vault with an 8.55 and 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.10.  Also competing to help with the team score were Docksiders Ronni Binstock, Ashely Diekemper, Kyra Feick, Melanie Martin, Nicole Martin, Maddie Nesbit, and Lexi Pitkevits.  The entire Docksiders Level 5 Team has qualified for the Maryland State Championships, their final meet of the season, with the designated score requirement.

In the Level 6 competition Jessica Burnett placed 2nd on Balance Beam with an 8.85 and Lindsey Gehring placed 2nd on Vault with a 9.225.  The Level 7 individual awards were all on Vault.  Amy Milligan was the Vault Champion for the 14 year old age group with a 9.10.  Carolyn Bailey was the Vault Champion for the 13 year old age group with a 9.30.  Sarina Troese placed 3rd on Vault with a 9.25 in the 13 year old age group.

The Level 8 Team had one of their best performances to date.  Although several of the girls are just getting back into action after suffering injuries, they came together for a solid performance.  Leah Dunn took top honors for Docksiders placing 2nd All-Around with a 35.65.  She took the Vault title with a 9.20 and placed 2nd on both Uneven Bars, with a 9.10, and on Floor Exercise with a 9.05.  In the 13 year old age group Emma Staisloff won Balance Beam with an 8.75 and placed 3rd in the All-Around with a 35.10.  In the same age group Sarah Taylor placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 35.65.  She took the Vault title with a 9.20 and placed 2nd on both Uneven Bars with a 9.10 and on Floor Exercise with a 9.05.  In the 13 year old age group Emma Staisloff won Balance Beam with an 8.75 and placed 3rd All-Around with a 35.10.  In the same age group Sarah Taylor placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.0.  Also competing for the Team’s 2nd place finish were Shelby Atwood, Julia Gielen, and Katie Korvin.
