Docksiders Level 10 Team Wins Vegas Cup!

 

The Docksiders Level 9 and 10 Teams traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the 2009 Vegas Cup on February 7^th.  The Level 10 Team walked away with the win, beating the home team Gymcats by .350.  The Level 9 team took 2^nd to a team also from Nevada named the Desert Gymcats.  Many individual awards contributed to the great placement of the teams.

            For Level 10 in the Sr. age group Toi Garcia, who will be competing for Auburn University in the fall, took 2^nd place All-Around with the highest All-Around score for the Docksiders Team with a 37.875.  She earned Champion status on both Balance Beam with a 9.65 and her award-winning event Floor Exercise with a 9.70.  In the Jr. Age Group Brianna Guy took 2^nd place All-Around with a 37.75.  She took 1^st on Balance Beam with a 9.675 and 2^nd on both Vault, with a 9.475, and Uneven Bars with a 9.525.  In the same age group Chelsea Perna placed 3^rd in the All-Around, 2^nd on Floor Exercise with a 9.425, and 3^rd on Vault with a 9.325.  Alexis Gross placed 3^rd on Uneven Bars with a 9.45 and Betsy Zander placed 3^rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.425.  Also contributing to the team victory were Krystal Welsh and Jenna White.

            In the Sr. Age Group of the Level 9 competition Monica Durham took 2^nd in the All-Around with a 35.25.  She also won both Uneven Bars, with a 9.45, and Balance Beam with a 9.15.  Her Docksider teammate Amanda Castle placed 3^rd in the All-Around with a 34.725 and 2^nd on Floor Exercise with a 9.025.  In the Jr. Age Group Emily Bowen had a great performance scoring 35.65 overall for 3^rd in the All-Around.  She also won Uneven Bars with a 9.40 and took 3^rd on both Floor Exercise with a 9.20 and Vault with an 8.85.  Also contributing to the team’s 2^nd place finish were Alex Zois, Chelcie Rosborough, and Noelle DeCesare.
