Docksiders
Gymnastics Teams had a stellar weekend of wins in 3 different states!
The Level
10’s traveled to Dallas, Texas
for the Metroplex Challenge and walked
away Team Champions. This
is 4 for 4
with this group of talented gymnasts. Brianna Guy won the Junior
All-Around title
and Krystal Welsh won the Senior All-Around. Another
group
of Docksiders
traveled to Allentown
Pennsylvania
for the Parkettes Invitational. Emily
Bowen captured the Junior All-Around title in her first meet as a Level
10. Monica
Durham won the Level 9 Senior
All-Around and Elana Spiegler won the Level 8 Senior All-Around. Back in Maryland,
the compulsory teams competed at
the PG Sports & Learning Complex where Sarah Zois was crowned
the 2010
Superflex Level 4 All-Around Champion!
In Texas
The Level 10
Team won their fourth team title of the season and is currently
undefeated. In the
individual awards top
honors went to Brianna Guy who finished 1st
All-Around in the Junior
age group with a 38.025. She
also placed
1st on Balance Beam with a 9.40 and 1st
on Floor Exercise
with a 9.60. She
took 2nd
place on both Vault with a 9.65 and Uneven Bars with a 9.375. In the Senior
age group, Krystal Welsh won
the All-Around with a 37.35. She
earned
the title Floor Exercise
Champion
with a 9.575 and placed 2nd on
both Vault with a 9.40 and Uneven Bars with a 9.225.
Stephanie Ouellette won her second Vault
Champion title for the season with a 9.475.
Betsy Zander took 2nd in the
All-Around with a 36.55 and
placed 3rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.35. Alexis Gross tied for 2nd
with
teammate Krystal on Uneven Bars with a 9.225. Heather Atwood also
competed for
the team win but had to withdraw half way thru the meet due to injury.
In Pennsylvania
At the Parkettes
Invitational Emily Bowen competed in her first All-Around meet as a
Level 10. At
13 years old, she is the youngest Level 10 on the team. She was
competing virtually by herself while her other teammates were
all in Texas.
She put together a great performance and won the
All-Around with a
35.05. She also won
the Uneven Bar title
with an 8.95. Now
that she has proven
herself as a solid Level 10, she will be traveling with the rest of the
squad
the rest of the season. At Level 9, Monica Durham won the Senior B
All-Around
with a 35.225. She
placed 1st
on Vault with a 9.40, Uneven Bars with an 8.80 and Floor Exercise with
an
8.725. On Balance
Beam she placed 2nd
with an 8.30. In
the Senior A age group
Emma Staisloff placed 2nd in the All-Around with
a 34.90. She took 3rd
place on both Vault with a 9.15 and Uneven Bars with an 8.40. Meagan
Rotondo
placed 3rd All-Around, right behind Emma with a
34.775 and took 3rd
on Balance Beam with an 8.60. Miranda
Telmanick placed 2nd on Uneven Bars with an 8.90. In the Child age group
Noelle DeCesare won
the Uneven Bar title with a 9.05 and placed 3rd
on Vault with an
8.95.
In Level 8,
Elana Spiegler placed 1st All-Around in the
Senior A age group with
a 35.625. She won
Uneven Bars with a 9.15
and placed 2nd on Vault with a 9.0. Elana also placed 3rd on
both
Balance Beam with an 8.625 and Floor Exercise with an 8.85. In the same age group, Julia
Gielen placed 2nd
All-Around with a 35.60. She
won the 3 of
the individual event titles. Vault with a 9.35, Balance Beam with an
8.85 and
Floor Exercise with an 8.90. She placed 2nd on
Uneven Bars with an
8.50. Amy Milligan placed 3rd in the All Around
with a 33.95 and
placed 2nd Balance Beam with an 8.85 and Floor
Exercise with an
8.90. Sarah Hughes placed 3rd on Vault with an
8.9 and 3rd
on Balance Beam with an 8.15. In
the
Junior age grou,p Courtney Boyle placed 3rd on
Balance Beam with an
8.85. In Level 7, Jamie Marcus had a good meet, placing 2nd
in the All-Around
with a 32.45. She
placed 2nd
on Uneven Bars with an 8.70, 2nd on Balance Beam
with an 8.05 and 2nd
on Floor Exercise with an 8.90.
In Maryland
At the Superflex
Invitational in Landover, Maryland
the Compulsory Levels 4, 5 and 6
teams placed well in the individual events. In the Level 4 competition
Sarah
Zois won her first All-Around title of her career in the Child A age
group with
a 35.10. She placed
1st on
Balance Beam with an 8.70, 2nd on Uneven Bars
with an 8.35 and 2nd
on Vault with a 9.20. In the same age group, Tristan Bullock took 2nd
in the All-Around with a 34.45. Tristan
was the Vault Champion with a 9.40 and placed 3rd
on Balance Beam
with an 8.50. Krista Martin tied for 3rd in the
All-Around with
Tristan with a 34.45 but received the 3rd place
award. She also
placed 3rd on Vault.
In the
Child B age group, Adelina Rodrigues placed 3rd
All-Around with a
high score of 37.25. She
took 2nd
on Uneven Bars with a 9.50 and 3rd on the
remaining events, Vault
with a 9.50, Balance Beam with a 9.35, and Floor Exercise with an 8.90.
Teammate,
Emily
Cave
vaulted to 2nd place
with a 9.60 and placed 3rd on Uneven Bars with a
9.50.
At Level 5 the
team earned 3rd place in the team competition.
In the Child A age
group, Sydney Gilman was the Vault Champion with an 8.90. Gillian Dea placed 3rd
in the
Senior A age group with a 35.45. She
placed 2nd on Bars with a 9.275 and 3rd
on Vault with an
8.45. Competing for the team 3rd place finish
were Samantha Pesile,
Sophie Oliver, Sara Norton, Jenna Musselman, Nicole Mozer, Sophie
Hofmann, Audrey
Hofmann, Lily Echeverria and Alaina Ashbeck.
Lexi Banham
placed well in the Level 6 competition. Competing in Child A age group
she took
1st place on Vault with a 9.50, 1st
place on Balance Beam
with a 9.35, and 1st place on Floor Exercise
with a 9.175. Meghan
McKenna placed 2nd on vault with a 9.40 in the
same age group. In
the Junior A age group, Karsyn Modeski placed 3rd
on Floor Exercise
with an 8.45.
Everyone has a
weekend off and then it is right back into competition.
The Level 9 and 10’s will be traveling to Phoenix,
Arizona
for the Hard Rock Invitational. It will be a Rockin’ good time! For more information about
